Detroit, MI’s WE CAME AS ROMANS will release their third full-length album, Tracing Back Roots, on July 23 via Equal Vision Records. The eleven track album follows Understanding What We’ve Grown To Be, which was released in September 2011 and debuted at No. 20 on the Billboard Current Top 200. To date, Understanding What We’ve Grown To Be and the band’s debut-full-length, To Plant A Seed, have sold over 183,000 copies combined. In March, the band travelled to Los Angeles to record the highly anticipated follow-up album, teaming up with renowned producer John Feldmann [The Used, Black Veil Brides, All Time Low]. “It was a true joy to be included in Tracing Back Roots,” notes Feldmann. “WE CAME AS ROMANS push the boundaries of what modern alternative music should be, while staying authentic to their roots. One of the few new bands to keep true to their vision while developing as artists.” Lyricist/guitarist Joshua Moore adds, “It was honestly a dream come true for the band to be working with John Feldmann, with him being so well-respected and having produced some of our favorite CDs growing up. He brought this amazing new perspective to our group and really pushed me to step outside the box as a writer. I truly believe that this next record is all of the best elements of what we have done so far in music, combined with where we want to go and the music we want to play going forward.” The new album most notably showcases vocalist Dave Stephens in a new light, with the incorporation of his clean singing for the first time ever. In addition to his signature powerful, yet articulate, screams, Stephens now also displays rich melodic tones and gritty textures, that perfectly balances the soaring, smooth croons of co-vocalist Kyle Pavone. Musically the album expands on the anthemic, inspiring quality of the band’s recently released single “Hope”, offering sweeping guitars interlaced with delicate synth interludes and explosive percussive elements. The resulting album is their catchiest and most universally relatable music to date. Moore further elaborates on the band’s musical evolution stating, “Though we’ve grown as individuals, musicians, and as a band over the years, we have never changed the meaning behind what our band is, and if anything, on this record we found greater meaning and purpose in the message we are trying to send to listeners. I think our fans will really understand and see that once they hear the album.” A behind-the-scenes look at the making of the record can be found HERE, in the band’s fourth and final studio update. The haunting, intricate album artwork for Tracing Back Roots was illustrated by the incredibly talented Paul Romano [Chiodos, Mastodon], who also created the covers for the band’s two previous full-lengths. Romano and WE CAME AS ROMANS’ bassist Andrew Glass collaborated on the artistic direction of each cover, with the newest one incorporating and elaborating on elements within the first two covers. ANAKA’s intense and uncompromising sound joined by KILLCODE’s super-charged sing-along anthems will co-headline this explosive night directly supported by the dark electro-pop of EVA AND HER VIRGINS, the aggressive BRAND OF JULEZ and the sexy, glam-tastic rock of ELECTRIC BLACK HORSE. “This is what it’s all about,” says ANAKA guitarist Peter Pallis. “This is such a natural combination of two like-minded, hardworking, powerhouse bands…It’s about bringing the army, the crowds and our one-of-a-kind intensity. This show is going to be MASSIVE.” ANAKA left a blistering mark in the Heavy Metal and Hard Rock scene of the world with their mammoth release of The Glorified Crusade. The record made a crushing impact on Hard Rock radio, achieving TOP 20 positions on both FMQB Commercial Metal Radio and CMJ Loud Rock charts. Airplay at numerous radio stations in the NYC area catapulted ANAKA to many sold out performances at Irving Plaza, Highline Ballroom, Bowery Ballroom and CBGB’s. ANAKA’s video for “Erase,” directed by Kevin J. Custer, hit national and international television and internet stations with full force, becoming the #1 most viewed video in May 2010 on MTVMusic and collecting hundreds of thousands of views on Music Choice, VH1, MTV Latino, and many others. ANAKA has opened for such acts as FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH, SHADOWS FALL, and OTEP. KILLCODE’s unique sound has been described as southern-infused rock, with hooky, super-charged sing-along anthems, big guitars and driving rhythms. The band has been quick to raise eyebrows since their inception in 2008, landing on bills with the likes of GODSMACK and SEVENDUST, and providing main support to Brett Scallions on the ReFUELed East Coast Tour. KILLCODE’s full length album Killcode charted in the #2 position on the BILLBOARD Mid-Atlantic Heatseekers Charts, and their song “Breaking Away” was featured in the inspirational documentary DRESSED, directed by David Swajeski. KILLCODE and their anthems for outlaws have sold out the likes of NYC’s Gramercy Theatre, Bowery Ballroom and Irving Plaza. Five years ago Gotham Rocks revived a famished NYC rock scene, becoming a groundbreaking, unstoppable force in the name of finding and fostering independent, rising musical talent. Last year Gotham Rocks successfully launched and completed its first ever tour to find the best up-and-coming bands across 11 states, while simultaneously selling out some of NYC’s most legendary, prestigious venues with entirely unsigned bands.
GOTHAM ROCKS ANNOUNCES ANNIVERSARY SHOW AT IRVING PLAZA NYC’s Top Independent Rock Promoter Celebrates Five Years of Groundbreaking Shows New York — Over the past five years, Tech-9 Music has staged hundreds of shows under the branded monikers Gotham Rocks and No Mercy Metal. On Saturday, June 8th, the company will celebrate its Fifth Anniversary with a gala event at Irving Plaza, featuring five bands from the New York area. The complete line-up features CHARETTA, WOODS OF ARDEN, MACHINE ELVES, THE AMATORY MURDER and ISPACEWALKSOMETIMES. CHARETTA will be releasing their upcoming album Apocalypse that week. Five years ago Tech-9 Music founders CT Tamura and Mike Sankari revived a famished NYC rock scene, becoming a groundbreaking, unstoppable force in the name of finding and fostering independent, rising musical talent. “It is wonderful and humbling to look at how the rock scene in NYC has grown over the past 5 years,” comments Tamura, “So many bands have gotten opportunities that simply didn’t exist a few years ago, and we at Gotham Rocks are so proud to have been, and continue to be a catalyst and supporter of these events. I have seen bands we have worked with go from drawing 18 people at a show to selling out Irving Plaza in the span of a couple of years and that couldn’t make us more happy.” Last year Gotham Rocks successfully launched and completed its first ever tour to find the best up-and-coming bands across 11 states, while simultaneously selling out some of NYC’s most legendary, prestigious venues with entirely unsigned bands. The company creates opportunities for emerging artists, pairing national acts like FUEL, FILTER, KITTIE, WHITE WIZZARD, ARSIS and FIREWIND with local support. The initial vision to create a showcase environment exposing bands to music industry, media, new fans and other great acts in the region has delivered a new scene for New York City. A community counting tens of thousands has emerged and continues to grow with each passing month. Gotham Rocks has hand-selected the best line up in the way of unsigned, terrific talent for this historical fifth anniversary show. The heavy handed and melodic female-fronted CHARETTA has claimed the attention of fans and critics alike with their “great grooves, monster riffs, and killer vocals,” says producer Mike Watts (STORY OF THE YEAR, THEORY OF A DEADMAN). WOODS OF ARDEN explode onto the stage with their catchy riffs and big vocals. MACHINE ELVES deliver an energetic stage show complete with the theatricality and soaring vocals of lead singer Joey Calveri, currently starring in Broadway’s Rock of Ages. THE AMATORY MURDER will make you want to both dance and fight with their blend of industrial synth-rock and upbeat pop-rock sensibilities. Last seen on the Gotham Rocks stage on the showcase’s tour, Westchester’s ISPACEWALKSOMETIMES’ pure and progressive sound will kick off the night, launching the Gotham Rocks Fifth Anniversary show straight into history books. “[Gotham Rocks] is the best collection of unsigned bands I have ever seen.” - John Rayvid, Revolver Magazine “Gotham...

On Saturday, July 13th Gotham Rocks presents the powerful and ethereal FACE THE KING at Gramercy Theatre, with SHE SAID FIRE, CRUSH OF EMPIRES and CHASING THRILL. FACE THE KING has rocketed to the top of the NYC music scene with their dramatic guitars, gut wrenching bass tones, orchestrations and signature, soaring vocals. The band’s newly released single “You, Me, & The Sound” has fans eager for their upcoming EP, following the success and critical acclaim of their last EP The Burning and the Falling Down. FACE THE KING has performed at Warped Tour to their hometown crowd at Nassau Coliseum, and was recently selected as one of 28 bands across the country to play the 2012 Rockstar Uproar Festival alongside heavy hitters SHINEDOWN, GODSMACK, PAPA ROACH and STAIND. Proudly pronounced by Long Island Press Magazine as the “Best Band of Long Island,” FACE THE KING’s arena-rock is something you must experience live. SHE SAID FIRE’s snarky and lush contemporary rock will act as direct support, burning up Gramercy’s stage with songs off their head-turning spring 2013 EP release BOOM! CRUSH OF EMPIRES’s unique, dark-driven sound takes the listener on an emotional journey from start to finish, with a raw live set that has graced sold out stages all over NYC. Two-time Warped Tour veterans CHASING THRILL will round out the evening with their energetic, fast tempos and high vocal melodies. Gotham Rocks will also offer a band from their Wednesday, May 22nd NEW BLOOD SERIES show at Tammany Hall an opportunity to take the stage at Gramercy Theatre on July 13th. The NEW BLOOD SERIES, created to welcome and promote independent, fresh talent in New York’s rock scene, develops a working relationship between new bands and Gotham Rocks.

The company creates opportunities for emerging artists, pairing national acts like FUEL, FILTER, KITTIE, WHITE WIZZARD, ARSIS and FIREWIND with local support. Over the past five years the company has and continues to nurture a community of artists and fans alike that has grown into the tens of thousands.

Only days after letting the world in on the title, cover art and June 25th release date for their fifth full-length album, Rescue & Restore, AUGUST BURNS RED are unveiling preorder options for the album and pulling the covers off a lyric video for “Fault Line,” the first track to be revealed from the upcoming release. “Fault Line” is a scorching track that sounds every bit like a trademark AUGUST BURNS RED song, while simultaneously giving hints of the expanded sound that characterizes the new album. “’Fault Line’ is a staple sounding ABR song,” explains guitarist and principal songwriter JB Brubaker. “It’s a good place to start when whetting people’s appetites for Rescue & Restore.” Rescue & Restore is available to fans in a number of preorder packages from a standalone CD package to album/tshirt bundles. The album is available on limited edition vinyl in a number of colors as well as in an exclusive vinyl boxset. Described by Brubaker as the band’s “most ambitious album yet,” Rescue & Restore turns a critical eye to the oft-maligned genre of metalcore, leading by example to prove that bands can still find exciting new ways to expand the genre. Throughout the album, AUGUST BURNS RED continue to do their part to challenge the conventions of heavy music. Over the course of 11 tracks, the band artfully blend piano, cello, violin, trumpet, various percussive elements and more into their sonic arsenal, taking their music into new aesthetic territory and contorting the boundaries of the genre. “Rescue & Restore is about challenging other bands and ourselves, as well as fans of this music, to want more than whatever happens to be the current buzz,” explains Brubaker. “We’ve done our best with each new album to try to push our sound in new directions and we’d like to see our peers do the same. People need to realize that there’s not much of a difference between a metalcore song that has a couple breakdowns with a repeating chorus and the latest Lady Gaga song. This genre used to be better than that. It can still be better than that.”

In De Goot Entertainment’s latest rock discovery AMERICAN FANGS have released their self-titled debut album on In De Goot Recordings via RED Distribution today. The album, packed full of punch you in the face guitars, loud, crisp gunshot drums and sing-along lyrics is exclusively streaming today at Revolvermag.com. AMERICAN FANGS was recorded at Vudu Studios in NY, and coproduced by Mike Watts (Deer Hunter, Theory of a Deadman, Adelitas Way) and AMERICAN FANGS. Last week, Vevo premiered the video for the first single, “Pomona.” The track’s early radio story has begun with support from KTBZ, Houston, TX; KPNT, St. Louis, MO; WARQ, Columbia, SC; KXNA, Fayetteville, AR and Sirius/XM Faction. Frontman Gabe Cavazos has a stage presence that is unmatched and the band’s insightful and intelligent lyrics combine with hooks that stay stuck in your head for days. In a time where radio rock is stale, Fangs bring something new to the table, the edge that has been missing since the early ‘90s.” Cavazos says of the band’s debut, “Hopefully the audience welcomes our trashy pop tunes. We think we’ve done a successful job of creating some catchy tunes that we love, while remaining drenched in sweat and danger.” AMERICAN FANGS are Gabriel Cavazos (vocals), Micah Miller (drums), Kyle Shimek (bass), Nik Slimp (guitar) and Beau Gobert (guitar). The buzz is starting: “…this record is full of high adrenaline, edgy sounding rock, while keeping up full frontal anthems and melody…this debut is a fantastic start to a hopefully bright career for American Fangs. It comes as a surprise that brings you coming back for more and more, months after you’ve first spun it.” – Lexington Music Press “It’s obvious that the band isn’t afraid to incorporate many different styles into their music and this fearlessness sets it apart from many other bands. The band’s self-titled EP is filled with short but worthwhile tracks that somehow had me singing the band’s hooks long after listening.” – The Daily Chorus “There isn’t a single song by these rockers that doesn’t sound like it was made with rock radio in mind…Snarling, edgy, and just a bit dangerous, the Fangs are a headbanger’s dream.” – Houston Night Life

But for any fans who fear AUGUST BURNS RED turning their back on the sound that catapulted them to the forefront of a genre, Brubaker advises them not to worry. “At the end of the day we are still a very heavy band,” he explains. “Rescue & Restore still has plenty of really heavy stuff, techy odd meter riffs, and all the stuff that people have come to expect from us, it just has a lot more surprises along the way.”
