Gotham Rocks – Columbus, Ohio at Woodlands Tavern
Gotham Rocks’ second stop in the midwest was at Woodlands Tavern in Columbus, Ohio. One of the great things about the Gotham Rocks shows has been the consistent quality and professionalism of the bands at the shows. Columbus, OH was no exception. Touring bands, The August Infinity from New York, Scarlet Carson from New Jersey, and Another Lost Year from North Carolina put on great performances and the Columbus-based acts, Strikken, Full Tilt, Live My Last, and Minds Without Purpose showed us why Ohio is known as a big rock state.
Strikken is metal meets melody and have been a band for 11 years. They have evolved over the years into an act with a sound that ranges from Disturbed to Metallica to heavier acts. Tight musicianship and a pro attitude round out this band. Be sure to check out their songs on the videogame Rockband HERE And you can hear them at Reverbnation: http://www.reverbnation.com/strikken

Full Tilt is a heavily 80s influenced hard rock band with superior vocals led by singer, Devan Stokosa. Listening to Stokosa conjures up flashes of great singers such as Sebastian Bach and it is truly refreshing to hear a vocalist so gifted. Stokosa is supported by good musicianship all around but it is the spectacular vocals that are worth the price of admission to see this band. http://www.reverbnation.com/getfulltilt

From Dirty Jersey is Scarlet Carson – one of NJ’s biggest unsigned rock acts, touring the Midwest with Gotham Rocks. Impressive rock vocals from Santino Noir are mixed with aggressive, melodic and rhythmic guitar work and strong bass and drum performances. A mix of new and old, think Avenged Sevenfold with a little less focus on progressive playing and a little more focus on songwriting and you won’t be far off. www.scarletcarson.com

Live My Last is a very strong Columbus based post-emo modern rock band with great live energy and pop infused songwriting. Pro level playing and a creative mix of riffing and vocal styles make Live My Last one of the strongest regional entries into the Gotham Rocks tour. http://www.reverbnation.com/livemylast

The August Infinity is one of NYC’s best up-and-coming modern rock bands. Featuring progressive songwriting and creative playing, TAI is led by the very talented frontman, Joshua Hawksley on vocals and rhythm guitars. Great melodies overlay electronics, tasty riffing and good rhythmic work to form a perfect storm of modern music. www.theaugustinfinity.com

Minds Without Purpose is a good new post pop-punk band with a very entertaining and high energy live show. They take their music seriously without taking themselves too seriously which is nothing but a good thing. Influences such as Greenday and Blink 182 come through loud and clear in a good way for this young Columbus-based band.
.
Another Lost Year is a national touring act from North Carolina. Commitment, pro songwriting, performance and sound, everything about this bands says “keep an eye on these guys”. Rooted in traditional hard rock songwriting, Another Lost Year both rocks and touches the heartstrings with their music. http://www.reverbnation.com/anotherlostyearband
